About PureFlow Lab
PureFlow Lab publishes buying guides, comparisons, and how-to content for homeowners shopping for water filtration, water softeners, and water treatment equipment.
If you’ve ever tried to research a water filter purchase, you know how broken the existing content landscape is. Half the “reviews” are barely-disguised manufacturer pitches. The other half are AI-generated roundups that recommend whatever has the highest affiliate commission. We built PureFlow Lab because homeowners deserve better information when they’re spending $500 to $10,000 on equipment that touches every glass of water their family drinks.
Who We Are
PureFlow Lab is run by an independent homeowner-led editorial team focused on residential water quality and treatment equipment. We’re not a Wirecutter-scale operation with a warehouse full of test units — we’re a focused site that does deep research, installs equipment in real homes, and writes the buying guides we’d want to find when making a decision ourselves.
Our editorial team has hands-on experience with residential water treatment, whole-house filtration installs, well water treatment, and the realities of homeowner DIY plumbing. Every recommendation in our buying guides is grounded in detailed research — spec analysis, NSF certification review, owner feedback patterns, and market positioning. When we install and test a product directly, we publish the photos, TDS readings, and test results to show our work.
What We Cover
The site is organized around the major categories of residential water treatment:
- Whole-house reverse osmosis — the most complex and expensive home water solution
- Well water filtration — sediment, iron, sulfur, bacteria, and the unique problems well owners face
- Water softeners — salt-based, salt-free, and the realities of hard water
- Under-sink and countertop RO — drinking-water-only solutions for renters and homeowners
- Whole-house carbon filtration — the practical answer most homeowners actually need
- Contaminant-specific guides — PFAS, lead, nitrates, fluoride, manganese, chlorine
Each guide is built around a buyer’s actual decision, not a manufacturer’s product taxonomy.
How We’re Funded
PureFlow Lab is reader-supported. When you buy a product through one of our affiliate links, we earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Right now, Amazon Associates is the only affiliate program active on the site. If that changes, we will update our disclosure page before adding new affiliate relationships.
We’re transparent about how that revenue affects our recommendations: the guide drives the link, not the other way around. We research and write each guide first, then add affiliate links afterward. Products without affiliate programs get recommended just as readily as products with generous ones, when they’re the right answer for the reader.
Read our complete Editorial Standards for the full methodology and our Disclosure for the legal specifics.
Why We Built This Site
The honest answer: we got tired of how bad most water-filtration content is. Manufacturer sites sell their own products. Generic affiliate sites push whatever pays them most. Forums are useful but scattered. There isn’t a single place that does straight-up, organized, honest buying guides for the categories homeowners actually shop in.
So we built one.
